Give Your Stove A Facelift Quickly And Easily

Posted on

There are many times when an old, outdated stove can really take away from the overall look and feel of your kitchen. If your stove is starting to lackluster and you want to give it a bit of a facelift, consider turning it into a work of art. The following guide walks you through the process of transforming your stove into something you will actually like to look at each day.

Clean the Stove

The first thing that you will need to do is clean the stove. The stove will more than likely have food stuck to the trays under the burners, to the top of the stove, and perhaps even some food may be stuck to the sides of the stove. Use warm water, dish washing liquid, and a clean rag to scrub the stove as much as you can.

Sand Down the Finish

If you have nicks in the paint of the stove, it is important to sand them so that you can make the surface as smooth as possible. Use an 80-grit sandpaper and lightly sand any imperfections you see in the paint.

Paint the Stove

Use a heat resistant paint to paint the stove. It is important to remember that the stove will become hot from time to time and you do not want to have harsh chemicals release into the air when the stove is heated. You should be able to look on the can of paint and see that the paint is heat resistant. Use a paintbrush to paint the entire stove.

Customize the Stove

If either side of the stove will be visible in your kitchen, consider creating a design on it. You can choose to make the designs as detailed as you would like. Just make sure that you use heat resistant paint to create the design, as well. Also, pull the knobs loose from the stove and paint them a different color than you paint the rest of the stove. This will create a unique, bold look.

This quick and easy repair will make your stove look as good as new. The supplies are very inexpensive and easy to find so that you can get what you need and get the job started right away. A home improvement store should sell the paint, paintbrushes, and even stencils that you need. Be sure to take your time to find colors that will pair well together when choosing the solid color of the stove and the bold color for the knobs and design.
