Think about The Features You Want before You Go Shopping for Your New Dishwasher

Posted on

Before you go to the store and start looking at all the different types of dishwashers that are currently on the market, make sure you know what you want in your new dishwasher. It can be easy to get overwhelmed with all the different choices and options between different models when you are in the store, which is why it is helpful to decide what features you want and what features you don't really care about before you go shopping. Here are some of most common dishwasher features you will encounter.

Wash Cycles

The first thing you need to think about is what type of wash cycles you are looking for. Most basic dishwashers will provide you with at least three cycles: heavy, normal, and light. Heavy cycles are designed to wash away grime from pots and pans. Normal cycles are designed for your regular dishes and silverware, and light cycles are designed for when your dishwasher is not full.

Many more advanced dishwashers have a lot more than these three cycles. These advanced dishwashers have cycles that allow you to wash your dishes quickly that are generally labeled as express or quick cycles.

Many high-end dishwashers also have features that are designed for different types of dishes, such as special cycles for china and crystal. However, those cycles are only necessary if you have the special dishes those cycles are designed for.

Drying Cycles

Most basic dishwashers allow your dishes to air dry. However, if you want your dishes to dry more quickly, you need to look at high-end dishwashers. High-end dishwashers have drying cycles that can quickly dry your dishes; you no longer have to wait a couple of hours for your dishes to dry on their own. However, the trade off is your dishwasher is going to use more electricity to dry your dishes.

Control Panel

Next, you need to think about where your control panel is located. Most lower-end dishwashers have the control panel located on the front of the dishwasher. Higher-end dishwashers offer touch screen instead of traditional buttons. If you want your kitchen appliances to all look seamless, you can even purchase a dishwasher where the controls are hidden across the top of the door – so when your dishwasher is closed, you will not be able to see the controls when your dishwasher is closed.

Before you go shopping for a new dishwasher, make sure you know what kind of wash and drying cycles you need as well as where you want the control panels to be located. If you want to keep things simple, all you need is a low-end dishwasher. However, if you want more advanced features, you are going to need to invest in a high-end dishwasher.
